Hydrogen hub in Abu Dhabi
AD Ports Group and Masdar have signed an MOU to develop a green hydrogen production hub within Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (Kezad). This initiative aligns with the UAE’s national hydrogen strategy, aiming to increase local hydrogen production to 1.4 million t annually by 2031 and 15 million t by 2050.
Masdar is targeting a global green hydrogen production capacity of up to 1 million t by 2030 and has already executed several global collaboration agreements.
The proposed hub could significantly contribute to global emission reduction efforts and includes plans for export terminals to overseas ports, promoting further investment in Abu Dhabi’s green hydrogen value chain. The project also offers opportunities for Kezad and Khalifa port tenants to develop green industries. (pb)
