Hupac to launch transshipment terminal in Poland

The Swiss combined transport operator Hupac now opened the new transhipment terminal in Brwinów Poland, located about 25 km southwest of Warsaw. The facility is intended to support the sustainable exchange of goods in Central and Eastern Europe and boost the expansion of combined transport services in the region.

With a handling capacity in phase 2 of 12 train pairs per day, the facility will have an annual shift capacity of up to 180,000 containers from road to rail. The ecological effectis obvious: this move in the intermodal shift will prevent 10 km of road traffic congestion every day and reduce carbon emissions by estimated up to 250,000 t per year.

Hupac will now start to gradually transfer existing connections to the terminal once it goes into operation in autumn 2022, the CT specialist said. (ben)
