Hupac ships 1.1 million trucks and keeps growing
Despite the difficult economic environment, Hupac increased its transport volume by 10.7% to around 1.1 million road consignments in 2021. Compared to pure road transport, the Swiss combined transport operator was able to save 1.5 million t of CO2 and 17 billion MJ of fuel.
All transport segments made a comparable contribution to the positive development last year. Transalpine traffic grew by 11.8% and non-transalpine traffic by 10.4%.
Hupac expects further growth in the coming years. By 2026, the combined transport operator intends to transport 1.5 million road consignments by rail annually and invest CHF 300 million in terminals, rolling stock and IT systems. (ben)
