Honing humanoid robots
Humanoid robots in the starting blocks: GXO Logistics’ newest partnership with robot manufacturer Apptronik aims to enhance operational efficiency at GXO’s logistics site in the USA. Dubbed Apollo, the humanoid robot stands 1.73 m tall and can carry 23 kg.
Thanks to optimised swappable batteries, the robots have the highest operational time of any of their kind. They are currently being tested to evaluate their performance and versatility.
Once the R&D programme is complete, the robots can be deployed at one of GXO’s distribution centres, where they will work alongside employees.
This partnership follows a previous collaboration with Apptronik, as GXO seeks to strengthen its automation solutions. The robots can be seen in action here: GXO | Apptronik. (mk)
