Hong Kong focuses on e-commerce
Hong Kong Air Cargo (2020: 238,000 t of cargo, +8.1%) has begun its partnership with Alibaba's logistics platform Cainiao Smart Logistics Network.
Jeffrey Zhang, director, commercial: "It has always been our goal to establish Hong Kong as an express e-commerce hub and this partnership is most definitely a step in the right direction."
James Zhao, general manager Cainiao Global Supply Chain: "In the near term, we aim to expand our air freight network to more countries and regions to achieve our goal of delivering globally within 72 hours."
Hong Kong Air Cargo currently operates five A330-200 to thirteen scheduled destinations. To meet the increasing cargo demand, the carrier has submitted applications for permission to add nine destinations to its network. (ah)
