Hong Kong airport as double hub
Last weekend Hong Kong airport cooperated with government departments and business partners to handle the first batch of Comirnaty Covid-19 vaccines flown from Frankfurt to Hong Kong. The hub also transhipped a batch to Macao across the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
The Cathay Pacific aircraft involved were accorded a series of tailor-made arrangements, including a parking stand close to the cargo terminal, priority unloading and towing, expedited customs clearance and priority truck loading in the terminal.
The forwarding to Macao of another batch of the same vaccines that arrived on the same flight exemplifies the airport's role as a double hub, connecting the Greater Bay Area to the world. (ah)
