Homing in on a Hungarian hub
Gebrüder Weiss has completed its EUR 25 million expansion project near Budapest. Its hub in Dunaharaszti now measures 10,000 sqm with spaces for offices, a handling facility, and a high-bay warehouse.
The company has been active in the country since 1989 and benefits from its strategic location at the crossroads of Eastern and Western Europe. It operates full-service logistics at six sites in Hungary. As part of the expansion, the new hub has been furnished with an Autostore system and robots to transport containers within the site.
GW has also installed a photovoltaic system with an output of up to 354 kWp, enabling a sustainable supply of energy. E-vans are deployed for delivery services to Budapest and other locations. All in all, the company can cut emissions by 12.5 t monthly. A further expansion to Győr is planned for 2026, as the next addition to GW’s Hungarian network. (mk)
