Hinterland train to link Trieste and Milan region
SBB Cargo International has launched a new rail connection in Italy for Alpe Adria, a logistics specialist for coordinated road, rail and sea transport. The new service began with two round trips from Trieste to Sacconago/Busto Arsizio in the northern Milan region. By 2025, the train will run in both connections three times a week.
According to SBB Cargo International, the partnership with Alpe Adria further strengthens the carrier’s east-west network in Italy and will open new doors for its existing and potential customers.
Alpe Adria operates several hinterland intermodal services from Trieste and is equally co-owned by the Trieste port authority, Friulia and Mercitalia Rail (part of FS Italiane). (ben)
