Higher speed and improved punctuality
With the time table change in India, effective from 1 October 2022, about 500 mail express trains have been speeded up by 10 to 70 minutes. 130 services (65 pairs) have been accelerated by converting to Superfast category, the Indian ministry of railways reports.
Overall, the average speed of all trains has increased by about 5%, making nearly 5% more paths available for operating more trains.
The punctuality of the mail express trains run by Indian Railways in 2022-23 is about 84%, which is roughly 9% more the 75% achieved during 2019-20. (ben)
