High-cube container facility saves space

The SME Harder Logistics is investing in a new fully-automated container warehouse on the edge of the German city of am Neu-Ulm. The facility, due to be completed by mid-2021, has the capacity to store 250 containers.

The high-cube container warehouse is coming up in an industrial development park in Neu-Ulm, and offers direct link to the A7 motorway and the B10 European road.

Junior project manager Johannes Danieli said that “the 850 sqm centre can hold 250 boxes, which is a mere 10% of the space this number covered before. Conventional storage would require 9,000 sqm.”

The 19 m high hall stacks teu on six floors through laser steering of an automated gantry crane. (sh)
