HGK: a takeover to add tank containers
HGK Shipping has increased its capacity by taking over Köppen’s tank container logistics business, adding approximately 1,000 tank containers to its fleet. This acquisition enables HGK Shipping to connect production facilities with container terminals in vital chemical industry hubs. The company also aims to provide integrated logistics services, enhancing supply chain resilience, particularly during low-water periods.
The newly acquired tank container business will enable HGK Shipping to develop transport services for hydrogen and derivatives, ensuring long-term sustainability.
HGK Chemical Logistics will oversee this business, with experienced logistics professional Dirk Czerlinski at the helm. This expansion aligns with HGK Shipping's growth strategy over the past two years, while Köppen will focus on its core competencies, including tank container storage, cleaning, and repairs in Duisburg, as well as transport operations in Duisburg and Dessau.
