Heavylift transport through Czechia

Transporting a 170 t heavy crane is no easy task. However, Nosreti, a subsidiary of Universal Transport, recently completed this feat in Czechia. The haulage task began at the crane’s manufacturing plant in Brno and ended at a steel plant in Ostrava, some 200 km away.

The project team, headed by Jiri Polach and Petr Gelnar, had numerous hurdles to overcome: the first was the manufacturer’s hall gate which was only a few millimetres higher than the transport rig. That was followed by motorway roadworks where the massive cargo had to be lifted hydraulically over the crash barriers.

When entering the steel plants, the rig and cargo had to be lowered to a few millimetres above the road as that was the only way it could get under overhead cables. All the planning and intensive preparation paid off as the crane arrived at its destination on time. (mw)
