Heavy-haul locomotives are back in South Africa

After having hauled over 18 million t of iron ore in Sierra Leone over the last three years, thirteen locomotives of the private heavy haul rail operator Grindrod have now returned to South Africa. They were shipped from Sierra Leone and arrived in the port of Durban (South Africa) last week.

The arrival marks the end of a special project within Grindrod's integrated rail logistics solutions offering efficiency and cost-effectiveness, especially for dry-bulk and container flows.

The company’s strategy is centred on fostering partnerships with rail authorities and operators and expanding and enabling rail growth opportunities within the SADC and East Africa regions. (ben)
