Heavy goods transport in high mountains
A walking excavator recently had to be transported to a construction site at an altitude of over 3,000 m below the Kitzsteinhorn in Austria. Walter Keil, the transport company commissioned for the project, used an “MPA” 3 low-loader semi-trailer from Goldhofer. The route led through narrow roads and alpine terrain.
Goldhofer's special vehicle with its high performance, its high axle stroke of 350 mm and its steering angle of 60 degrees proved to be indispensable, especially in alpine terrain.
With its experienced driver, the excavator arrived at its destination unscathed after a steep and stormy ascent and could be safely unloaded with the help of Goldhofer’s “smart control” system. (ben)
