Heavy-duty transport in Portugal
When the Portuguese special transport company Laso Transportes won the contract to convey a 70 m long and almost 300 t heavy metal component from Vale de Cambra to the port of Leça da Palmeira, some 60 km away, it was clear that Goldhofer’s heavy-duty modules were required to accomplish the task.
To ensure that the component could be delivered to the port without any major detours, the vehicle deployed had to provide a maximum degree of flexibility as well as use a loading deck with the lowest possible dead weight and a minimum overall height. Laso’s transport experts therefore chose two Goldhofer six-axle THP/SL heavy-duty modules.
Due to their high bending moment and the many different variations available, these modules were the most suitable choice to carry the giant metal component to its destination. Thanks to its precise organisation, Laso was able to transport the cargo to the port within two nights, in time for onward shipment from the pier. (mw)
