Hauliers demand higher EU fleet limits for trucks

In a letter to EU lawmakers, 41 medium-sized companies, including DPDHL, Kuehne und Nagel, Contargo, Knauf Insulation, have joined international groups in calling for fleet limits to be increased from the currently proposed -45% to -65% in 2030.

In comparison to the European Commission's proposal, this adjustment could raise the number of green trucks on Europe's roads by more than 150,000 by 2030.

The signatories of the letter also call on the EU to set a clear date by which 100% of new trucks must be emission-free. They point out that this target is dimportant for the decarbonisation of the industry by 2050. The average life of a truck in Europe is 18 years. (ben)
