Haropa commits to port development abroad
The port of Le Havre, part of Haropa, and the French development agency (AFD) have joined forces to assists ports in developing countries. While the shipping sector plays a key role in the economic growth of these countries, the ports often face numerous challenges in terms of efficiency and infrastructures, etc.
The French partners intend to support the development of the maritime economy in these countries and the upgrading of their port facilities with the know-how and expertise of the port of Le Havre.
The recent cooperation between the port, the AFD and the Indonesian directorate general of sea transportation is a first example, bringing together the representatives of about thirty Indonesian port authorities from the main ports of the archipelago for 15-day training programme involving experts from the port of Le Havre and the port’s maritime shipping community.
