Harbour in Liverpool to get new warehouse by 2024
UK Port Operator Peel Ports has commissioned the construction company Glencar to build a new 223,000 sqm warehouse facility at Alexandra Docks within the Peel Ports Port of Liverpool development located in Bootle.
The new EUR 32.4 million facility will have the length of up to five football pitches (400 m) and will be used for the handling and storage of cargo at the port. It constitutes the biggest single investment in warehousing at the Port of Liverpool over the last six years.
The warehouse will be able to store a variety of commodities and also have a quay and cranes to optimise vessel discharge. Works commenced on site in April 2023 with completion scheduled for March 2024.
Peel Ports Group has seen a significant increase in demand for warehousing. The planned facility will provide an opportunity for companies looking for a new base to grow their business and enable existing customers to expand their operations at the port, the group said. (ben)
