Hannibal adds intermodal links in Eastern Europe
Set to launch by the end of 2024, the new railfreight service will link Italy, Hungary and Romania. The train will serve Contship Group's rail hub in Melzo (Italy) the Bilk and Arad terminals in Budapest (Hungary) and Curtici (Romania) and will transport semitrailers, sea containers, and any other equipment including semi-trailer containers and swap bodies.
Hannibal (part of Conship Italia) will operate the service as an open rail system in partnership with Eurogate Intermodal and Oceanogate. The train will make two weekly circulations and will be able to carry up to 35 cargo units. The transit time for the 1,500 km long route will be 48 hours, Hannibal said. (ben)
