Hamburg Süd reshuffles Latin American coverage

Hamburg Süd, in cooperation with its new parent company Maersk, is remodelling its services on the Europe–Central America, Caribbean and South America West Coast trade lanes.

The companies said there is a new stand-alone service - SAWC1 - covering Europe to/from Central America, the Caribbean and South America west coast. It will, amongst others, involve a fast direct connection between the Chilean ports of San Vicente and San Antonio and North Europe and improve the links to the hub ports of Balboa, Cartagena and Manzanillo.

Eight, wide beam post-panamax ships (4,500 teu) will be deployed on SAWC1. The SAWC2 is being retained. The first northbound sailing of the new SAWC1 service is scheduled to be on 10 June 2019, with the “Luna Maersk” departing from San Antonio.

The first southbound sailing will be provided by the "Lexa Maersk", the ETD from Antwerp is 6 June 2019.

The Maersk Group is also extending its network to US, Russian, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern ports. (cd)
