Halifax Stanfield begins building air cargo logistics park

Realising the potential to further enable regional exports and trade, the Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA) in Canada is ready to construct a new air cargo logistics park that will benefit the entire region. The park has been made possible thanks to investments of CAD 18 million from the federal government, CAD 5 million from the provincial government, and a contribution of CAD 13 million from HIAA.

The hub will be built on 101,171 sqm of vacant land at Halifax Stanfield and will include a new cargo apron area, buildings for cargo handling, an aircraft de-icing facility and associated operational areas both airside and groundside. The facility is expected to open in early 2021.

“The new cargo processing and logistics facility – the largest in Atlantic Canada – will be an important addition to our transportation network,” said Nova Scotia's Premier Stephen McNeil. “I’m pleased to see more opportunities for businesses in Nova Scotia and the region to get their high-quality products to market."
