Hactl: an early adopter of the SBTI scheme
The science-based targets initiative (SBTI) has confirmed that the targets of Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) comply with its criteria and recommendations, and that Hactl’s scope 1 and 2 target ambition is in line with a 1.5°C trajectory for limiting global temperature rises.
In 2022, Hong Kong’s largest independent air cargo handler made a public commitment to SBTI, a collaboration between the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
Hactl has now committed to reducing absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions, but also absolute scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, fuel- and energy-related activities, waste generated in operations, employee commuting and downstream leased assets by 50.4% by 2030, from a 2018 base line.
