GW's third Georgian expansion
Gebrüder Weiss (GW) is enlarging its Tbilisi terminal for the third time since its opening, adding 13,000 sqm of area to bolster its capacitiies in the Caucasus.
All in all, the terminal now comprises 142,000 sqm of space, made up of the original hub established in 2012 and its consequent extensions in 2019 and 2020. These projects added enhanced warehousing and handling space and connected the hub to the railway network, bringing the company’s total investment into the terminal to over EUR 25 million.
For GW, a base in Tblisi enables access not only to the Georgian market, but also to connections to Armenia and Azerbaijan and creates more potential to scale up collaborations with Central Asian countries, such as Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
The hub will continue to provide logistics for the textile, household goods and automotive industries while benefiting from new free trade agreements with the EU and the Eurasian Economic Union. (mk)
