GW gets the green light in Austria
Gebrüder Weiss (GW) is going ahead with the construction of a new IT and logistics centre in Wolfurt, Vorarlberg, thanks to a decision made by the municipal parliament at its meeting last week.
The new facility will be built on an area of around 30,000 sqm and serve as a storage-centre-cum-IT-hub. It will be equipped with a high-bay warehouse with 68,000 pallet positions and space for 300 IT employees. Quick access to the local railfreight station will enable GW to boost its capacities in the Vorarlberg region.
Additional features will include a photovoltaic system capable of generating an output of 1,25 MW and charging stations for electric vehicles. Despite the uncertain economic situation, GW is backing this project with EUR 100 million and sees this project as an investment into its future logistics operations in Austria and beyond. Construction is to be completed by the end of 2025. (mk)
