GW adds a second office at Tex/Mex border
20 months after opening a branch in El Paso, TX, Gebrüder Weiss has also added a location in Laredo, TX – the biggest transhipment centre for US imports from Mexico: Every day, nearly USD 800 million worth of goods are transported across the border.
Nearshoring is one reason why the flows of goods from Mexico have increased. The country has become an attractive manufacturing location for companies from China, Europe, and Latin America. Country manager Mark McCullough: "40% of the trade between Mexico and the USA is handled via Laredo."
The international transport and logistics company headquartered in Austria covers the resulting transport needs with cross-border and US-wide delivery services. Moreover, a logistics warehouse provides 1,500 sqm of floor space for handling goods, including those designated as hazardous. The services include customs clearance and bonded storage. (ah)
