Guide of the ICS for security measures
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has recently published a new guide to ensure a secure interface between personnel on board ships and on shore in times of Covid-19. The guide was compiled by the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) together with a coalition of industry associations.
The IMO Circular no. 4204 / Add.16 aims to respond to the main concerns and expectations of crews and ground staff by implementing practical and risk-based measures to address Covid-19 risks for all personnel involved on board and ashore.
Jonathan Spremulli, principal director - marine of the ICS, said: “The message of this guide is that clear communication is vital to reducing risk for all parties." ICS has also released a version for shipping companies. (mw)
