Guaranteeing long term Asia–Europe capacities
Geodis has increased its investment in its own network to more than EUR 70 million, and has confirmed a two-way schedule of flights from Shanghai PVG to Amsterdam and back. This will run through to early 2021 and guarantee its customers regular and reliable services.
The global logistics provider originally instigated its full aircraft charter arrangements between China and Europe in March, with ad hoc flights, and in June introduced a weekly timetable, to meet the urgent need for air cargo capacity. Now, with both freighter and passenger belly-hold space still in short supply, Geodis has announced a permanent schedule through to next year.
These direct flights serve what is expected to be a strong post-Covid-19 resurgence in demand during what is traditionally a peak season in the fourth quarter. (ah)
