GSC goes to Georgia
The 3PL provider GSC started operations at its newly opened office at the port of Savannah (Georgia), the USA’s third busiest port gateway, at the end of January. Both the Georgia Port Authority and the Savannah city council have welcomed the new arrival, as it promises to attract more business to the area. The port of Savannah is the first port on the East Coast where GSC will be draying containers for clients as a motor carrier.
GSC recently acquired MacMillan-Piper, a Seatle (WA)-based specialty transloader, thus boosting its growth and portfolio of drayage and transload services in the Pacific Northwest. Now, these services will be offered in the South too. The company plans to expand its network to other ports in the Southeast region, including Charleston and Norfolk on the East Coast and the port of Houston on the Gulf Coast. (mk)
