Green light for turning assistant
Germany has given the green light for the first trucks with turning assistants eligible for the national funding programme to be deployed on the country’s road network.
So far three manufacturers have applied for a general operating licence. Two of these applications have now been approved. Road hauliers therefore have a choice of secure systems that can be installed in already existing vehicles. Five more manufacturers are also in close contact with the German ministry of transport.
The funding programme for turning assistant systems can now pick up speed. The ministry of transport has provided EUR 5 million to support the voluntary upgrading of HGVs. (ben)
