Green electricity for trains in Czechia
With immediate effect, all transfer connections operated by ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) will now be powered exclusively with green electricity in Czechia as well.
These include the intermodal transports from Brno (Czechia) to Budapest (Hungary), from Melnik (Czechia) to Hamburg (Germany) and for wagonloads from Bohumin/Petrovice (Czechia) to Hohenau (Austria). In Austria, all freight trains have already been running on renewable energy since summer 2018 and in Germany since the beginning of 2021.
Green electricity for the trains in Germany and Czechia is drawn from the public grid. In Austria, more than a third comes from ÖBB's hydroelectric and solar power plants. (ben)
