Green drives for green logistics

The German federal ministry of transport and digital infrastructure is investing EUR 24.4 million in three projects for the development of climate friendly truck drives. The aim is to use alternative propulsion systems to eliminate all emissions in road haulage traffic.

Part of the funds are intended for SELV, Aachen RWTH University’s project for retrofitting heavy trucks with fuel-cell drives.

Other projects to benefit from the funding are Opel’s HyLightCOM initiative for the development and testing of a light utility vehicle with a hydrogen fuel cell drive and the Scale-e-Drive programme led by Daimler and Kassel University for the development and testing of battery-electric utility vehicles with a permitted total weight of 3.5 t and 7 t.
