Greece to digitalise 70 km rail line
The Greek rail company Ergose has signed a EUR 41 million contract with a joint venture set up by Alstom and Avax to upgrade the Thessaloniki – Idomeni line.
The project includes signalling, some electrification and track renewal along 70 km of existing single line of mainline section Thessaloniki – Idomeni in Northern Greece. The line is part of the Pan-European corridor X, connecting Thessaloniki to Budapest and passing through Northern Macedonia, Serbia and Hungary.
Alstom will install the ETCS Level 1 trackside solution Atlas 100, electronic interlocking technology as well as the digital railway traffic control solution Iconis in Thessaloniki, the country’s largest and most important railway hub. (ben)
