Grants for short line railroads in South Dakota
The US Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) has awarded grants for two short line railroads in South Dakota. The Ringneck & Western (RWRR), an affiliate of Watco, will receive up to USD 1,799,009 to construct two transload tracks to transport lumber and aggregate; and construct an industrial lead track and a concrete maintenance pit in an existing locomotive maintenance building.
The Rapid City, Pierre, & Eastern Railroad (RCP&E), an affiliate of G&W, will receive USD 800,000 to upgrade and install eight culvert structures between Fort Pierre and Rapid City to better withstand future flows from the storm water basins at their location. (ben)
