Going east to expand
DB Schenker is setting up eight new country organisations in the Caucasus and Central Asia region. The countries have been primarily served by partners so far; the services will now be operated by DB Schenker directly.
The forwarder takes the first step in Kazakhstan, where it has already founded a country organisation that will be integrated into its network as of January 2020. The next step will be taken in Azerbaijan, where a local agency will be brought into the DB Schenker network within the next two months. DB Schenker’s new company has the potential of handling five-digit shipment volumes per year.
In Georgia, DB Schenker also plans to set up its own country organisation in 2020. The development of markets in the other countries - Armenia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan - will follow in the same year. (ben)
