GLS enhances courier service in Canada

The Netherlands-based parcel carrier has acquired Altimax Courier in Canada. The move strengthens GLS Canada’s position as an integrated parcel and freight player, the company said.

With the takeover, GLS will also complement its existing infrastructure in Canada, expanding its network to a total of 65 terminals nationwide. The acquisition follows the integration of Rosenau Transport in 2021, and Dicom in 2018.

Founded in 2000, Altimax Courier has been GLS’ long-standing partner for the past 17 years. It provides both air and land-based services.

GLS Group has offices in almost all European countries and operates wholly-owned subsidiaries in Canada and USA within one GLS network. GLS has over 120 hubs and more than 1,600 depots, supported by 35,000 final-mile delivery vehicles and 4,700 long-distance trucks. (ben)
