Global maritime city rankings in 2024
The 2024 "Leading Maritime Cities of the World" report, researched by DNV and Menon Economics, rigorously evaluates global maritime hubs. Singapore claims the top spot this year, excelling in digital transformation and green technology.
Europe also features prominently, with Rotterdam, London and Oslo making the top five, noted for their robust ports, logistics, and financial sectors. Shanghai ranks fourth. Germany's Hamburg is in eighth place, recognised for its shipping and logistics capabilities.
In his assessment, Martin Kröger of the German Shipowners' Association noted that global competition remains intense and stressed the importance of maintaining attractive conditions to keep Germany competitive in the maritime sector. (pb)
