Global humanitarian logistics agreement

DHL and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) have signed a formal agreement to strengthen their collaboration in humanitarian logistics, as DHL has reported.

The partnership aims to improve disaster response through enhancing localised response, capacity-building for local teams and more efficient aid delivery to affected communities. Building on previous joint efforts in Kenya, Lebanon and Turkey, the agreement creates a legal framework for DHL’s ‘GoHelp’ programme and IOM’s field operations to work more closely together.

A recent initiative in Kenya saw DHL and IOM deliver 1,000 donated water filters to flood-affected communities near the Tana River. DHL’s disaster response teams in Nairobi assembled and prepared the filters for immediate use. The collaboration will support additional capacity-building projects in Greece, Panama and South Sudan.
