Global e-CMR community continues to grow

The digital protocol to the United Nations CMR convention for international road goods transport has now also entered into force in Armenia, setting legal foundation for fully paperless road haulage in the country, the International Road Transport Union (IRU) reported.

Armenia is the 39th country to join e-CMR, following the accession of Italy, Austria and Hungary over the past three months. The switch from paper-based to fully digital consignment notes will boost the efficiency and safety of goods transport in Armenia and, ultimately, into neighbouring countries.

By eliminating paperwork, e-CMR lowers handling costs, ends administrative and invoicing delays, and reduces discrepancies at delivery sites, IRU said. (ben
