Get to France - via Barcelona
Synergy, logistics services provider of port and terminal operator Hutchison, has consolidated its intermodal service between Hutchison Ports BEST Terminal and southwestern France.
This service was introduced in February 2020 in cooperation with the Port of Bayonne. Customers say they save up to eleven days of transit time when importing and exporting their products through the Port of Barcelona.
Synergy's general manager, Pablo Garcia, emphasises that the Navarra intermodal terminal (TIN) in Noain, close to Pamplona, "which is only 100 km from the border", is a pillar of the service.
In line with the EU Green Deal initiative, Synergy saved more than 12,000 t of carbon with its intermodal split in 2020. A number of customs services have also been implemented to simplify matters for cross-border traffic.
This new link complements the existing rail corridors between BEST and Noain, which already has six weekly frequencies, and between BEST and Miranda de Ebro (Burgos), which maintains its four weekly frequencies. (cd)
