Germany promotes intelligent trailer technology
Last autumn, the Bundesverband Güterkraftverkehr Logistik und Entsorgung (German freight transport association, BGL) demanded that climate protection in the utility vehicle segment must not end with the tractor unit, but that it also must include options to adapt the trailers.
A separate funding programme for intelligent trailer technology will be launched on Friday, 19 March 2021. To this end, BGL has joined forces with other trade representatives to list innovations which can be funded with up to EUR 5,000.
According to the association, these innovations include automated aerodynamic superstructures, digital and networked solutions for tyres, systems for making trailers suitable for rail transport, eco-friendly refrigerated vehicles and intelligent transport refrigerated units. (ben)
