Gerber and Erkeskin: the latest winners in Brussels
TT Club, the renowned international freight transport insurer, and Fiata, the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations, have unveiled the global winner of this year's Young Logistics Professionals Award (YLP) at the 2023 Fiata World Congress which took place last week in Brussels, Belgium.
Coming from The South African Association of Freight Forwarders (Saaff) and representing the Fiata Region Africa and Middle East, Andre Hein Gerber's dedication to the field, exemplified by his insightful dissertation focused on the import of a hydrogen desulphurisation reactor and the export of an entire sweet factory, truly embodies the YLP spirit.
Fiata president, Ivan Petrov: "Congratulations to Andre Hein Gerber and all the finalists for inspiring us and showcasing the limitless possibilities that lie ahead in logistics, and the pivotal role of young professionals in shaping the future of logistics. The competition recognised Fiata's commitment to nurturing their potential and we continue to prioritise the future workforce of our sector as such."
Petrov's successor has also been elected in Brussels: It is Turgut Erkeskin, until now Fiata SVP. The president and CEO of Genel Transport, which he founded in 1988, represents the Turkish Fiata member association Utikad, and is now embarking on the path marked out for him. Congratulations Andre Hein and Turgut from the ITJ! (ah)
