Georgia strengthens traffic links with the EU

Georgia will improve its traffic links to the European Union and enjoy safer travel conditions within the country thanks to financial and technical aid from the EU.

The European Investment Bank (EIB) and other EU institutions support a wide-ranging programme of transport infrastructure upgrades approved by Georgia’s government, including essential works on the country’s east-west highway.

This connection is the main artery for long distance road traffic in Georgia. It is also part of Europe’s TEN-T infrastructure and will include road sections totalling around 100 km that are among the Georgian Government’s priority projects. (ben)
