Geodis chases Phantom
French logistics group Geodis has entered into a collaboration with Phantom Auto, a software specialist for unmanned vehicles, to jointly develop a remote-controlled electric lift truck.
Phantom Auto was founded in Silicon Valley in 2017 by a team of communications and robotics experts for real-time applications.
The first successfully completed tests of the trucks took place in France (Levallois and Le Mans) as part of a multi-year collaboration between Geodis, Phantom Auto and Fenwick-Linde.
The ability to operate industrial trucks from a distance of thousands of kilometres opens up new avenues for work processes in the logistics industry.
The solution is based on the use of a Fenwick lift truck in combination with Phantom Auto's secure, network-independent and interoperable remote control software. Remote control of the vehicle increases its efficiency and utilisation. (sh)
