Geis sells Central European parcel business to DPD Group
The Geis group plans to sell its parcel delivery operations in Czechia and Slovakia to the DPD Group. This move will help both companies to strengthen their core businesses: DPD will focus on last-mile deliveries, and Geis will concentrate on international freight forwarding services and contract logistics in both countries. The transaction will be implemented subject to approval by the antitrust authorities.
“In this fast growing parcel market we want to further expand our business in order to improve our support for the continuing advancement of our customers,” Yves Delmas, COO Europe DPD Group, explains.
The Geis Group also believes that this transaction is a good decision in strategical terms: “After we have helped develop parcel markets in Czechia and Slovakia over the last 25 years, it is time for us to hand over the parcel business to a specialised provider with a strong presence across Europe,” says Hans-Georg Geis, managing partner of the Geis Group.
