Geis provides a home for 160,000 bees
Today, 20 May 2019, is World Bee Day. By celebrating this special day, the United Nations underline the special importance of bees for the conservation of biodiversity and the production of food.
This is one of the reasons why the Geis group has set up a home for four bee colonies on its premises in Neu-Isenburg near Frankfurt (Germany). The area around a collecting basin for rain water in front of the logistics facility in Neu-Isenburg serves as a refuge for the valuable insects.
In cooperation with the beekeeping company BeeFree, Geis has put up four beehives, each providing room for 40,000 bees. The bees produce honey also from the pollen of linden trees and acacias. The beekeepers of BeeFree take care of the hives and share the honey with Geis. (mw)
