Geis Group's green German terminal
Geis Group has inaugurated its new ‘eco-terminal’ at its 40,000 sqm site in Ebersdorf West. The EUR 20 million terminal has a timber hybrid design, a green roof and photovoltaic panels. It complements and expands the company’s previous capacity at Lichtenfels, where the growth of its business prompted the company to develop a new space for its operations.
Geis Group now has 6,000 sqm for cargo handling as well as an office building spanning an area of 1,300 sqm. Close to the A73 motorway, the terminal is also strategically located within the region of Coburg and beyond.
The solar panels can generate 500,000 kWh of electricity, while the timber hybrid design enabled a more sustainable construction process, which will support Geis in its plans to become climate neutral by 2040. (mk)
