Geis contracts and improves
Germany-based Geis Group carried out a portfolio adjustment in 2020, but ended the financial year on a positive note. In 2020, the internationally active logistics service provider achieved net sales of just over EUR 1 billion.
Managing partners Hans-Georg Geis and Wolfgang Geis were satisfied with the development of both turnover and earnings.
Group revenue fell by 3.3% compared to the previous year, as the company sold its parcel services in Czechia and Slovakia at the turn of 2019/2020. Adjusted for this effect, Geis achieved a 4.7% increase in revenue. The main growth drivers were air freight with imports of hygiene and protective materials as well as the entire B2C segment.
Thus, the number of transport and logistics orders handled in 2020 at the 127 Geis locations throughout Europe rose by 8.3% to 640,000. Tonnage transported declined by 3.1% to 5.87 million t. The company is banking on a "stable level" for the current 2021 financial year. (sh)
