Gefco takes charge

When dynamic young firms – such as Chronotruck – enjoy sustained success soon after their launch, they become interesting for established players – such as Gefco. With the major logistician behind it now, the freight exchange is planning to expand abroad.

Chronotruck, a French freight exchange established three years ago, has now fallen into the hands of Gefco. The large logistics provider took over Chronotruck this summer. The latter offers a platform through which users can broker transport services and a variety of digital options.

Chronotruck’s goal is to avoid empty runs, which it achieves by enabling trucks that are nearby to pick up cargo. Around 9,000 clients already use it today.

Gefco is planning to combine Chronotruck’s innovative and dynamic spirit with its own size and its long-standing experience. Gefco CEO Luc Nadal explained that “Chronotruck’s know-how will help us change our clients’ processes and improve them, by deploying technical solutions that benefit both parties.” Chronotruck has mainly been active in France so far. With Gefco behind it, it is now also planning to push ahead with expansion into new markets.
