Gecas' additional orders relieve Boeing
Gecas (GE Capital Aviation Services) has signed an agreement with Boeing converting 11 B737-800 Converted Freighter (BCF) options to firm orders and adding nine more options to its orderbook.
This is a repeat order from GE's commercial aircraft leasing and financing arm for the B737-800BCF, bringing its total orderbook for the type to 74 (60 firm and 14 options) since the narrowbody conversion programme was announced in 2016. The 20 orders in this agreement are scheduled to complete conversions from 2022 to 2024.
The US airframe manufacturer won no new contract in July, delivering only four new aircraft - two widebody passenger B787-9 (Air France, Turkish Airlines) and two freighters (one B767-300F to Fedex Express and one B777F to DHL), while the narrowbody segment usually represents its driving force. (ah)
