Gazprom trials LNG-powered locomotive
Sinara Transport Machines Holding (STM) has received the Russian certificate of conformity for the TEMG1 shunting locomotive with two power plants running on liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The new locomotive has successfully passed all the necessary certification tests for compliance with the requirements of CU TR 001/2011 (the customs union’s technical regulations). It is STM’s own development and has no analogues in Russia, the company said.
The pilot operation of the machine is to commence in the Orenburg branch of Gazpromtrans February 2022, in accordance with the company’s plan to expand its fleet of LNG-powered locomotives. (ben)
